My Experience In The UK

When I graduated from the NMMU, I moved to the UK. There were several reasons for this and I would like to briefly mention a few:
  • To experience living overseas
  • To experience working in a developed country
  • To gain work experience
I lived in the UK for a couple of years and found my time career wise an excellent experience. I was able to witness first hand what it was like to live and work in a developed country. The reality is that there are of course big differences between a developing country and a developed country. It also allows one to appreciate your land of birth and gives one prospective and understanding.

I gained a lot in the UK work experience wise and I hope that I can be of value when I return back to SA.

Developing economies such as SA have so much to offer entrepreneurs if one can get into the right channels.

How do you become a member of the society?

I am interested in being a member of this society but it is unclear as to what exactly the society does. is it maybe possible if someone can just give a summary of what the society does(summary). for example: if there is a public speaking society, then you know it involves public speaking and competitions for public speaking etc.

Hi Akhona,

I am not sure what has happened to the society but i have been using the blogspot just to post some of my personal experiences after finishing my degree.

While I was at university the BLS was a society with a clear mission statement and that was to develop members to become tomorrow's business leaders. There were different departments and the society was run like a business. It also organised businesses to come and address our members and created opportunites for employment. It is critical for students to get as much business and exposure to the business world as possible before graduating. BLS was there to do that and to provide the platform for entreprenuers to grow and develop.

If you like you could establish yourself as the president and raise BLS up once more. Read the constitution for clear details of how to run the BLS. I am back in SA so if you like we could set up a meeting?

Hi Akhona,

I don't like the word problem so this make it happen. Do you know where Upstairs Harry's (Coffee place, etc)is in York Street? It is in the same block as ABSA Bank is.

Next week any day 13:00 - 14:45 excpet for Tuesday I can meet you. Which day would you be able to make it? Come to the meeting prepared if you want to become NMMU's next BLS President, read the constitution and know the mission statement and objectives 100%. It is on this website named constitution on the right hand side, its a link to the constitution.

This could be a start of something great for you. If any of your friends are interested then bring them along.

Let me know.

Dear Zuko,

Should I set up a meeting with you two at NMMU George Campus?

I can help you guys set this society up again, I think it is no longer active for some reason.

I am the Founder of the BLS and I am back in South Africa with lots of experience which could ultimately benefit as all.

Let me know?
